A man caught transporting £45k of cannabis in laundry bags has been jailed. Road policing officers stopped a white Ford Transit Connect on the A14 near Boxworth Services, Cambridgeshire, on 19 October after suspecting it was being driven without insurance.

As the vehicle stopped, two men got out and ran off in opposite directions across fields.

Officers caught up with 28-year-old Iliran Sinani in a nearby field and found a passport, bank card and driving licence in his pockets.

Nine bags containing cannabis worth up to £45,000 was also discovered in the vehicle.

Detective Constable Charlotte Anderson-Chapman, who investigated, said: “Thanks to this proactive stop by our road policing teams, these drugs have been prevented from reaching the streets.

“We continue to patrol our county’s roads looking for those who use our road networks to transport drugs across the country.”
