Fire in which woman dies not being treated as suspicious

A 33-year-old woman has died in a flat fire in Peterborough. Emergency services were called to the fire in Mendip Grove, Gunthorpe, Peterborough, at 10.23am on Saturday (March 9). 

Police, medics and Cambridgeshire fire and rescue crews attended.

“A woman in her 30s died at the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

On Saturday (9 March) at 10.23am emergency services were called to reports of a flat fire in Mendip Grove, Gunthorpe, Peterborough. A woman has died.

Detective Superintendent Sherrie Nash said: “Our thoughts are with the family, friends and the local community following this tragic incident.

“A joint investigation to establish the cause of the fire concluded it was not suspicious and this was an isolated incident.”
