More than 200 people turned up at the Grand Arcade Cambridge for its Rainbow Runway, which raised more than £1,200 for the Pink Festival Charity and to celebrate Cambridge Pride in style. The audience enjoyed a fun-packed series of events, from interactive Drag Bingo to a spectacular Fashion Show, the event also welcomed a visit from East Anglia’s most celebrated Drag Queen, Felicity Flappes.
She said: “What an incredible night at Rainbow Runway and way to kick off Pride celebrations in Cambridge! The energy was electric, and seeing everyone come together to celebrate diversity and inclusion was fabulous.”
The Fashion Show was a highlight of the evening and saw LGBTQ+ models strut down the runway styling clothes from various clothing brands within Grand Arcade, including John Lewis & Partners, Hobbs, Levi’s, Mango, RetroGusto, Vans. Kiko, Kuoni, and Rituals also supported the event by providing prizes and goodies for the guests.
Marika Newman from John Lewis said: “Seeing our clothes modelled on the runway was fantastic. They brought such flair and confidence. It was an honour to be part of an event that celebrates diversity.”
The Pink Festival Charity expresses gratitude for the community support shown during the event.
Gordon Bateman, Chair of Cambridge Pride, said: “Rainbow Runway not only showcased fashion and entertainment but also highlighted the unity of our community. The funds will go a long way to supporting Cambridge Pride and help us continue our work of promoting equality and acceptance. It will be a day to remember.”
The charity’s money goes towards its objective to eliminate discrimination of the LGBTQ+ community through education and awareness.
