A second body has been recovered from the river at March after a police search resumed today. Police began their second day of trying to find a man in his 80s after the body of a woman, also in her 80s, was recovered from a Fenland river on Saturday.

Cambridgeshire police say they are treating the death of the woman as “unexplained”.

They have yet to confirm the body recovered today is that of the man they were looking for.

An initial post yesterday by Policing Fenland described it as a “concern for welfare incident on the Twenty Foot river road in March”.

The road was closed between the A141, Hobb’s Lot Bridge and junction of Elm Road for much of the day as recovery teams searched the river.
