Police in the West Country are “becoming increasingly concerned” for the welfare of a 28-year-old man from Cambridgeshire who went missing in Cornwall a month ago. Harrison George Barnes was last heard from on June 21 and has not been seen or heard of since.
Colleagues at McDonald’s where he was working in Newquay say it is “worrying that none of the staff at McDonald’s have heard from him and he hasn’t handed in his notice or anything; it’s very strange”.
One other post to a Cornish social media site added: “I have quite a few contacts in Newquay. He worked with my son, but he has not heard from him since they swapped shifts around that same date. He has tried messaging but had no reply.”
Harrison – usually called George – has family in Ramsey, Cambridgeshire, and his mother has issued constant appeals through social media in Cornwall to try and find him.
“My son has been missing since approximately 21st June 2024 known in Newquay as George Barnes aged 28 years, 6ft 4 any sightings or if you know where he is please contact 101 Devon and Cornwall police,” she posted to social media.
His mum Libby also asked for anyone near Grosvenor Avenue, Newquay, if they have doorbell footage around the 22nd and 23rd of June late night or early morning for possible sightings of George.
Devon and Cornwall police said in a statement they were “becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of 28-year-old Harrison George Barnes who has been reported missing from the Newquay area.
“George was last heard from on 21 June. He has not been seen or heard from since.
