History repeated itself on a Cambridgeshire business park when a second cannabis factory was uncovered by police. Acting on a tip off police officers visited a building within Eagle Business Park in Harrier Way, Yaxley, near Peterborough, last Friday where they found 284 plants of varying sizes, worth an estimated £250,000.
It followed an earlier raid – in June – on the same business park when a vacant unit was found being used illegally as a drugs factory.
Of the most recent raid, PC Joe Davis said: “Thanks to information from the public, this illegal drug will no longer reach the streets.
“With the help of local residents, we will continue to tackle and dismantle cannabis factories and make clear to criminal groups that our county is a hostile environment for them in which their trade is neither welcome nor tolerated.”
The June raid was carried out by Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire police and RCAT (Rural Crimes Action Team).
On that occasion a mezzanine floor is thought to have been added to create an expanded drugs ‘growing’ area.
UK Power had workers at the scene to regularise the electricity supply which had been tampered with illegally to enable the drugs factory to operate.
