Police searching for a teenage boy who got into difficulty at a lake near Cambridge have found a body. A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: “We were called at 5.26pm yesterday evening (Monday) by the ambulance service reporting concerns for a teenage boy in the water at Burnside Lakes in Cherry Hinton, just outside of Cambridge.
“It is believed the boy, who is 16 and from the Essex area, was swimming in the lake with a group of friends when he got into difficulty.”
Search teams recovered a body from the lake at about 1pm this afternoon (Tuesday).
The spokesperson added: “While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of the missing boy and his family have been notified.”
The boy was swimming at Burnside Lakes with friends when he got into difficulty just before 5.30pm yesterday.
