The driver suffered minor injuries but six children on board escaped injury when a bus overturned into a water-filled ditch in the Fens tonight.
Police say they were called at 5.14pm today with reports a school bus had overturned into a water-filled ditch on Garden Lane, at the junction of Leverington Common in Wisbech.
“Officers are currently at the scene together with firefighters and paramedics, and nearby Station Road is expected to be closed well into the evening,” said a police spokesperson.
“The driver of the bus is believed to have minor injuries and will be taken to hospital as a precaution.”
The spokesperson said there were six school children on board, but they have now been rescued from the bus and are not thought to be injured.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes
