A silver 16th century chalice worth thousands of pounds was stolen from a village church.

Thieves broke into All Saints and St Andrews Church, in Church Lane, Kingston, near Cambridge, between 25 September and 1 October.

They removed the chalice from a safe.

The chalice has the inscription, “FOR THE TOWEN OF KINGSTON”.
