Police closed a main road in Peterborough tonight after a fallen tree hit a car. Thorpe Road was temporarily closed and motorists forced to turn back after police and rescue workers dealt with the incident.
The driver of the car appeared to have suffered no injuries although he was clearly shaken by the experience.
Police turned up to help with the situation and our photographs show the presence of a tree surgeon making an emergency call to remove the tree.
Strong winds have caused damage across the county today and these are forecasted for the county through to Sunday 8th December.
Drivers are being urged to drive with care and to the conditions of the road.
