An18-year-old drug dealer from Gold Street, March, has been sent to a young offenders’ institute for 8 months after being caught with 25 wraps of cocaine in his bottom and a machete.
Police were on patrol in the Market Square, Cambridge, on the evening of 13 December when they spotted Alfarooq Makinde sat on one of the market tables.
Underneath the table they found a machete and arrested Makinde.
In custody he was searched, and officers found a bundle of 25 crack cocaine wraps hidden in his bottom.
At Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (22 January), Makinde, of Gold Street, March, was sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institute after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession of a knife in a public place and possession of cannabis.
Detective Constable Lee Steeden, who investigated, said: “Carrying a knife is completely unacceptable and actually puts you at more risk of being seriously harmed. “When a knife is involved arguments can escalate and easily result in someone being killed.
“Drug dealing and violence are not welcome in Cambridgeshire, and we’ll continue to work tirelessly to remove them from the streets of our villages, towns and cities.”
