Trains were blocked at Manea tonight after what rail bosses called a “disturbance on the station”. East Midlands Railways reported: “There are trespassers on the railway now at Manea after a disturbance on the station. Police have a helicopter in attendance checking the railway line for the trespasser.
“Until the check is complete we still cannot run trains.”

Local residents posted reports of two people being seen on the track whilst another resident said that police had chased “two lads down School Lane”. Both reports remain unconfirmed.
Another resident claimed: “Two trespassers – one caught/gave themselves up and the other one was being looked for by the helicopter”.
Greater Anglia added; “Due to disruptive passengers at Manea and all lines are blocked.
“Train services running through this station will be terminated at and started back from Ely. Disruption is expected until further notice”

A statement from Greater Anglia added: “Trains are being disrupted because of disruptive passengers at Manea. For safety reasons, the line is blocked. Police are on site and working at getting lines re-opened as soon as possible.”

Service Impact
Trains between Ipswich and Peterborough will only be able to run between Ipswich and Ely.
Alternative Travel Options
The company said they had arranged for passengers to use their Greater Anglia ticket on Great Northern and Thameslink trains between Ely, Cambridge, Hitchin and Peterborough in both directions.
“Greater Anglia and Network Rail are sorry if your journey has been affected by this disruption,” the statement added.
