Residents and staff at Hilton Park Care Home in Bottisham celebrated all things Irish for St Patrick’s Day this week. The home was decorated with shamrocks and everyone dressed in green to mark the day.
Held on March 17th, Saint Patrick’s Day actually observes the death of St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, but the day has come to be a huge celebration of Irish heritage and culture.
Staff and residents at the home marked the day with music provided by local musician Alex Southgate who played classic Irish songs on his accordion before the residents took turns posing for photos in front of a St Patrick’s Day banner along with with Alex and activities co-ordinator Aldona Celep, who was wearing her lucky shamrock outfit.
General Manager, Geanina Tinca said: “Our residents have all had a brilliant day today, everyone has enjoyed the festivities – I think we all agree St Patrick’s Day is the best of all the saints’ days! We had a fantastic time listening to Irish music and we even sampled some lovely Irish cuisine too.”
Gill Fry, resident at Hilton Park Care Home said: “It has been a lovely day. I really enjoyed the music and the accordion is such a lovely instrument. I have always enjoyed St Patrick’s Day and today was no different.”
