3-month curfew for boy, 14, who admitted 23 Peterborough burglaries

Teenager sentenced to an 18-month youth supervision order, a 10-day activity requirement and must adhere to a curfew between 9pm and 7am for the next three months.

A teenage boy has been convicted of 23 offences in connection with a burglary series in Peterborough.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was initially arrested at his home in Hampton Vale on 29 March after being identified by the local neighbourhood policing team (NPT).

On 23 September he was charged with:

  1. Theft of a motor vehicle – namely a US Kia Telluride motorcycle from Oliver Road, Hampton Vale, on 8 February
  2. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Coriander Drive, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  3. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Coriander Drive, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  4. Interfering with a motor vehicle with intent to steal in Coriander Drive, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  5. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Goldcrest Way, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  6. Burglary including theft of keys in Goldcrest Way, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  7. Interfering with a motor vehicle with intent to steal in Jones Hill, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  8. Burglary including theft of tools in Albert Crescent, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  9. Burglary with intent to steal in Albert Crescent, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  10. Burglary with intent to steal in Hewitt Close, Hampton Lakes, on 16 March
  11. Interfering with a motor vehicle with intent to steal in Borthwick, Orton Wistow, on 24 March
  12. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Borthwick, Orton Wistow, on 24 March
  13. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Ashleigh, Orton Wistow, on 24 March
  14. Attempted burglary with intent to steal in Ashleigh, Orton Wistow, on 24 March
  15. Interfering with a motor vehicle with intent to steal in Ashleigh, Orton Wistow, on 24 March
  16. Interfering with a motor vehicle with intent to steal in Ashleigh, Orton Wistow, on 24 March

He admitted all offences and appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (16 November).

He was sentenced to an 18-month youth supervision order, a 10-day activity requirement and must adhere to a curfew between 9pm and 7am for the next three months.

He was also made subject of a 15-month Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which states he must not engage in or encourage others to engage in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, either in person or via social media, amounting to anti-social behaviour (ASB).

He is also banned from associating with two named individuals.

PC Brady Slack, from the south Peterborough Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have had many complaints about the boy’s behaviour which has been impacting the local community, as well as the burglary spree he carried out earlier this year.

“This order has been put in place to help prevent any further offences and support him in turning his life around to stay away from crime, however, for as long as he continues to cause a nuisance to the public and commit offences, we will put him before the courts.”

On Saturday (19 November), he was arrested in Lakeview Way, Hampton Hargate, after being found in the company of one of the named individuals on his CBO.

He was charged with breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order by engaging in ASB and associating with a named individual and appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he had a further four days added to his activity requirement.
