Teenagers – youngest 13 – among six arrested in Cambridge for moped thefts

Two men in their fifties – together with four teenagers – were arrested in police raid that recovered stolen mopeds.

“Mopeds, bikes, vehicle parts and cash were also seized,” said a police spokesperson.

Police released photos of the haul they recovered – and a snap of the team being briefed ahead of the raid.

The raids were on undisclosed properties in Cambridge.

“Since the start of the year, more than 300 mopeds and motorbikes worth more than £500,000, have been stolen,” said the spokesperson.

In the latest raid police said four teenagers and two men in their fifties in connection were arrested in connection “with a series of moped thefts in Cambridge,

“Three warrants were issued for arrests across Cambridge on Monday, December 12, which led to the arrest of four teenage boys.

Police released photos of the haul they recovered – and a snap of the team being briefed ahead of the raid.

“A man, aged 51, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen good. The four teenage boys who were arrested were aged 13, 14, 15 and 17 years old.”

Police said that whilst carrying out the warrants, another man aged 50 was arrested for assaulting a police officer.

The six individuals were taken to Parkside police station.

In the summer police revealed that nearly 50 motorcycles had been stolen in Cambridgeshire in less than one month.

Vehicles were reported stolen from stolen from towns and villages, particularly in the south and west of the county, including Cambourne, Cottenham, Abbots Ripton near Huntingdon, Great Shelford, and Cambridge.

Out of a total 49 thefts reported to police between June 27 and July 23, 43 took place in the city of Cambridge.
