A popular Cambridgeshire wood – popular with dog walkers – has been closed temporarily because of a dangerous tree.
Huntingdonshire District Council announced this morning they have been forced to close the wood in Hill Rise, St Ives “as a dangerous tree is hanging over the path”.
A council spokesperson said: “Our arboriculture team will visit the area tomorrow (29 December) to make the tree safe again but until then, the woods will remain closed to the public.”
The spokesperson added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience during this time.”
Hill Rise Park is situated off Hill Rise.
The entrance comprises of two flower beds either side a small roadway which leads the visitors into a small car parking area.
Hill Rise can be approached from two directions – from the Somersham Road or Huntingdon Road. It is 6 hectares (15 acres) in area.
The park offers: 20 space car park, designated dog walking area, small mature copse, multi wheels activity area with teenage shelter, basketball and football goals, and a play area. Play area Picnic area
