A Cambridgeshire care home resident returned to play the grand piano at Ely Cathedral just as she had done as a young girl.

Hilton Park Care Home at Bottisham arranged for their resident, Betty, to visit the cathedral and to play, once more, the grand piano.

“Today was a day of pure joy for Betty as we arrived at the magnificent Ely Cathedral.

“As a young girl, Betty had played the grand piano in this very place, and for almost half of her life, music had been her constant companion.

“Betty was filled with tales and memories of this beautiful place, and she couldn’t wait to sit down at the grand piano once more. As she began to play, the notes carried her back in time, and Betty’s eyes shone with joy as her fingers danced across the keys.

“For almost an hour, Betty played with all her heart, and when it was time to go home, she told us with a radiant smile that she would definitely be returning.
