A man carrying a large hunting knife was caught after he made the fateful error of walking past a local police station.
Officers recognised him – or in their words was ‘known to them’ – and went to speak with him.
The man ran off, was caught, and the knife found.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon in March.
A police spokesperson said: “This afternoon, officers from the March Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and officers from the rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) were at March police station.
“They saw a male known to them walk past the car park.
“The male didn’t want to talk and decided to run off along Burrowmoor Road.”
The spokesperson added: “During the search for the male, a large hunting ‘RAMBO’ style knife was located.
“One male was arrested under suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.”
After the arrest, police posted photos of the recovered knife to social media.
