A £38,000 Atlas static caravan stolen from Hertfordshire was recovered during a police raid at Wisbech St Mary. It followed the recovery earlier in the day at Cottenham of a £12,000 Pegasus caravan – also stolen from Hertfordshire.
“Two happy victims and £50,000 taken away from the hands of criminals,” explained police on their Facebook page.
Police revealed that the Cottenham caravan was discovered whilst South Cambs Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were searching for a wanted man.
“He wasn’t there but we didn’t come away empty handed,” said the Facebook post.
“This £12k Pegasus caravan was stolen from Herts a few days ago which we found on a plot of land. The caravan was seized for a forensic examination and another man is helping us with our enquiries.”
Police explained that officers from the Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) followed up this raid by heading to Wisbech St Mary “as we had been made aware a £38k Atlas static caravan had also been stolen from Hertfordshire Police less than 24 hours ago”.
Police say they successfully applied for an emergency warrant, forced open the gate “and hey-ho, found the caravan.
“This was also recovered but unfortunately nobody was around to speak to us”.
