A man in his 60s was rescued from a remote Cambridgeshire field after being stranded in his car near to a water-filled ditch for around three hours. Details of the rescue have been released by Cambridgeshire police.
“Last week we took a call from a concerned farmer in Alconbury who had come across a man in his 60’s stranded in a vehicle close to a water-filled ditch,” said a post on Policing Huntingdonshire Facebook page.
“The man had travelled from Yorkshire and was thought to have been in the car for around three hours before he was found.
“The farmer took quick action and called emergency services.
“With the help of the farmer, the fire service, the ambulance crew and ourselves, the man was assisted from the vehicle, taken to hospital for treatment and his family were contacted.”
Police coupled their report with a reminder of the Herbert Protocol
It’s a scheme we support that can help find people with dementia if they go missing.
The scheme encourages family and friends to keep a document that will help officers in the event a loved one goes missing by collating key pieces of information including a physical description, familiar places, health details and an up-to-date photo.
