Tory opposition leader Kemi Badenoch dropped into Cambridgeshire yesterday for a flying visit – blink and you would have missed her. Photos on social media show her meeting Conservative supporters in Stilton near Peterborough and walking round a housing estate under construction.
But Badenoch omitted any reference to Peterborough when she posted on X about her visit, despite including three random images which only those familiar with the area might recognise.

Instead, she used the photos to tweet about immigration, pointing out that “our immigration system’s been a mess for decades -and it’s made it harder for young people to own their own homes”
She said her “new plan will reduce numbers” by banning citizenship if you
Need benefits
Need social housing
Commit crimes
“Only net contributors get a passport,” she added.
And that was it.
A local county councillor in Stilton, Simon Bywater, posted to Facebook that he was “absolutely delighted to welcome Kemi” with a reminder to “please don’t forget to vote on May the 1st”.
With that Keri was gone although noting that her husband Paul was on some of the photos, Sara Bristow remarked on Facebook: “Brilliant future leaders of the country!”
Both you and @redditchrachel know what individual in those photo are under investigation for
It’s quite disagraceful that you would parade around Peterborough knowing that
Look where turning a blind eye got Boris

Mr Bristow is the Conservative candidate for Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
By tradition, of course, the current MP for Peterborough was notified of Badenoch’s visit shortly before she arrived. Visiting MPs are obliged to notify any local MP if they visit their constituency.
Of course, the notification does not necessarily include an invitation to meet them, as indeed was the case for Andrew Pakes, the Labour MP for Peterborough who defeated Mr Bristow at the 2024 General Election.
