Nearby properties were evacuated tonight as fire swept through a large industrial building in Peterborough.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said the properties in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution “and there are no casualties reported”.
The building on Padholme Road, Peterborough, was destroyed in the fire.
More than 30 firefighters were called and began arriving at the scene around 8.50pm after a call to report a large fire involving the roof.
People were asked to avoid the area where possible and keep windows closed if nearby
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are assisting Cambs Fire & Rescue Service at a large fire off Padholme Road in Peterborough.
“Please avoid the area, and keeps doors and windows closed to protect from smoke.”
A short while ago Cambs fire and rescue tweeted that “crews remain at the scene of the fire on Padholme Road in #Peterborough.
“They’re working hard to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading. There are no casualties reported, however some properties in the immediate area have been evacuated as a precaution.”
