End of a 150-year era as village butcher closes
High Street butcher Henry Hurrell says his business will close today after 150 years of serving Burwell villagers for 150 years.
“For the past 150 years Hurrells Family Butchers have served the people of Burwell and surrounding villages,” said Henry.
“Throughout this period, I have been privileged to enjoy the support of so many customers locally and from afar.
“Sadly, and with deep regret, I have to announce that as from close of business on the 1st of October 2022, Hurrells Butchers will cease trading.
“I wish to sincerely thank the customers who have supported my business over many years.”
He added in a message to customers: “Peter Curtis, who has been a very loyal and professional assistant to me, is retiring and I am sure you would join with me in wishing him a long and healthy retirement.”
