A woman caught three times over the drink drive limit at school pick up has lost her licence. A member of the public reported concerns Sarah Bellerby had driven while over the limit to Wheatsheaf Way in Linton on 12 December.
The 42-year-old of Fincham’s Close, Linton, was taken into custody where she gave evidential readings of 112 and 107, more than three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (18 January), Bellerby was given a 12-month community order and disqualified from driving for three years and four months, after pleading guilty to drink driving. She must also carry out 100 hours unpaid work.
PC Sam Balcombe, who investigated, said: “There is no excuse for drink driving. Thanks to this tip off, we were able to prevent Bellerby from putting herself, children, and other road users at risk.”
The force operated a dedicated, confidential hotline, 0800 032 0845, which is available 24/7 and provides the public with the chance to provide information about anyone they think may be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
