A shoplifter was jailed after she was caught stealing from a Peterborough shop twice in one day.
Clara Nemcova, 29, was arrested at Boots pharmacy in Westgate, Peterborough, on Sunday afternoon (October 23).
Police had been called by security staff at the store, who reported shoplifting.
A court heard that the security staff had intervened after Nemcova attempted to leave with five gift sets worth £78.
Earlier in the day she had attempted to leave the store with nine Ted Baker gift sets worth £112.50.
Nemcova, of Mitchell Close, Eastgate, Peterborough, appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on October 24.
Magistrates jailed her for 18 weeks in prison after she admitted two counts of theft.
Part of her sentence included a previously suspended four-week sentence for common assault and being in possession of heroin.
PC Louise Ashworth, who investigated, said: “Nemcova had given a second chance by the courts when she was handed a suspended sentence earlier this year.
“However, she has shown she continues to disregard the law and will now be spending the rest of the year in prison.”
