A drug dealer from Ely has been jailed thanks to a tip off from the community.
Police were responding to concerns around anti-social behaviour and drug dealing in Benedict Street on 20 December when a member of the public provided further information about those involved.
Officers visited a flat in the area and Erald Perlica refused to open the door as suspected drug packages could be seen being thrown from the bathroom window.
Police forced entry and arrested the 27-year-old.
They found further drugs and cash as well as a sock containing drugs in his vehicle parked outside.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (20 March) Perlica was sentenced to three years and one month in prison after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Detective Constable Neil Patrick, who investigated, said: “Thanks to information received from members of the local community, we were able to act on it, put Perlica before the courts and put a stop to the associated anti-social behaviour and crime that was connected to the drug dealing.”
Anyone who suspects drug dealing is taking place is urged to report it online www.cambs.police.uk/report
