Former Wisbech mayor Cllr Aigars Balsevics will face a retrial next year after a jury failed to reach a verdict on two counts of rape.
A date of July 2023 has been pencilled in for the fresh trial.
Last month a judge dismissed a jury at Peterborough Crown Court after being told they were unable to come to a verdict.
Balsevics, 40, a Wisbech town councillor and former mayor, had been accused of raping a woman twice in May 2021.
The trial began on October 19; Balsevics denied both charges and agrees he had sex with the woman, but it was consensual.
Balsevics, of Burcroft Road, Wisbech, was suspended from the Conservative Party after he was charged but he remains an independent member of Wisbech town council.
