An East Cambridgeshire parish councillor will go on trial next year accused of sexual assault. Doug Stuart of Stretham appeared at Cambridge Crown Court last Thursday and pleaded not guilty to a single charge of sexual assault.
A trial date of May 12, 2025, was set.
Cllr Stuart stood down in March as vice chairman of Stretham parish council but remains a councillor.
A special meeting of the council of the council in March heard that Cllr Stuart “has agreed to take a step back from council duties until further notice”.
