An electric car burnt out in High Street, Mepal, on Monday morning. Fire crews from Littleport and Cottenham were called to out to tackle the blaze which destroyed a Renault.
It happened just before 10am outside the post office/ shop.

“Wearing breathing apparatus firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the car fire and returned to their stations by 11.25am,” said a spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue.
“The cause of the fire was accidental.”
One resident said a fire crew returned to the scene at about 3.15pm.
“I guess they had some concerns,” said the resident. “There were a couple of little boys coming home from school who were super excited to see a fire engine.”
