Dotty Blakey paid an emotional farewell on Saturday evening as she closed her popular English tea room for the last time.
The shock decision to close was announced only days earlier, with the only explanation that it was because of “reasons beyond our control”.
In the short time she had run Dotties Tea Room at Friday Bridge near Wisbech it had built a stunning reputation, reflected in the hundreds of messages of support posted to her Facebook page.
Last night she made the final post.
“Well, the end to a very short era … it’s been an emotional day,” she wrote.
“Thank you everybody and all my staff.”
