Doctor Who Monsters Spotted Around Peterborough as Museum Prepares for Out-of-This-World Exhibition
Residents of Peterborough may have noticed something unusual popping up across the city – Daleks lurking in Cathedral Square and Cybermen marching through Queensgate. But don’t worry – this is no alien invasion. The images are part of a growing wave of excitement around a major new exhibition opening at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery this spring.
Using cutting-edge AI technology, a series of stunning digital artworks have reimagined iconic Doctor Who monsters as if they were part of everyday life in Peterborough. The images, shared to us from an anonymous superfan, are generating a buzz among fans and locals alike — all in anticipation of Adventures in Time & Space – An Independent Celebration of Doctor Who, which opens on Saturday 3rd May and runs until Saturday 2nd November 2025.
The exhibition promises to be a dream come true for fans of the legendary sci-fi series. Bringing together the largest collection of restored and surviving Doctor Who props in over a decade, the show will transport visitors through six thrilling decades of the show’s history.
Visitors will be able to see every type of Dalek and Cyberman ever featured on screen, alongside rare retro space guns, spacecraft, and a giant space station prop that has never before been displayed. One of the centrepieces will be the unveiling of a faithfully recreated 1976 TARDIS console, made possible through a collaboration with ARU Peterborough. The exhibition also features the largest Dalek ever seen on screen — a towering reminder of the show’s ability to thrill and terrify in equal measure.
Running alongside the main exhibition will be two free companion shows. From 14th June to 26th July, the museum will present The Art of Jeff Cummins, a showcase of illustrations from the acclaimed artist known for classic Doctor Who book covers and album artwork for music legends like Led Zeppelin and David Bowie.
Later in the year, visitors can explore The Radio Times Years, a nostalgic photographic journey featuring the work of legendary Radio Times photographer Don Smith, whose portraits of the Doctor and other beloved British TV characters remain iconic to this day.
In addition to the exhibitions, the museum will host a series of special events, celebrity guest appearances, a writing competition for young fans, and offer exclusive merchandise, signed prints, and more surprises throughout the run.
Tickets are now on sale and are expected to go fast. Entry is just £5 for adults and £3 for children, with timed entry slots available to help manage demand. Fans are encouraged to book early via the museum’s website:
