You can lead your dog to water, but you cannot make them drink – or even to swim come to that. But in Peterborough the latter wasn’t a problem. Peterborough Lido Dog Swim is back!
Due to popular demand, the end of season dog swim is taking place over two days this year, today (Sunday 29th) and Monday 30th September.
Opportunities are there for a fun splash in the pool, some serious doggy paddle training or a friendly race against canine rivals.
“With three 90 minute sessions available each day, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the heated water of the 50m main pool and the shallower pool for the less confident pups,” said a spokesperson for the Vivacity Lido team.
The Lido Café is also open serving hot drinks and snacks and for today there are a range of stalls available offering pet friendly services and treats.
The Lido spokesperson added: “We’re delighted to be bringing the Dog Swim back this year after sell-out events in 2021 and 2022.
“All season long we receive enquiries from keen dog owners, but we can only offer this before the Lido closes for the winter.”
At least one adult human is expected to accompany their dog in the water and tickets cost £10 per dog with a supervising adult. Wet suits are allowed in the pool if you’re worried about getting chilly.
Session times are 10.00am-11.30am, 12.00pm-1.30pm and 2.00pm-3.30pm on both days.
