Quills at the ready – a fun, Harry Potter-inspired evening is coming to Peterborough, and all to raise money for a worthy cause.
Hop on board at Platform 9 3/4 and stop off at the Fleet in Fletton on Saturday, October 1 for a magical time with a quiz, raffle, chocolates, drinks and entertainment all lined up like new Hogwarts pupils awaiting the Sorting Hat.
The event is being hosted by the campaign group Peterborough Unlimited to raise funds for Changing Places toilets in the city centre which would benefit those with additional needs.
And while the super quiz will not only determine who can earn their OWLS (that’s Ordinary Wizarding Levels for the uninitiated), with a top prize of two tickets to Harry Potter World, there will also be a raffle .
Prizes include tickets to see this year’s Cresset pantomime, rail tickets, a printer, tickets to watch Peterborough United as well as a signed shirt, movie posters from Showcase and a bag of products from Flying Tiger.
The event – which is going ahead thanks to disability charity Scope generously covering the room hire – will take place from 5pm to 8pm, with the quiz beginning at 6.30pm, followed by the raffle. Harry Potter fans of all ages are welcome to come and get stuck in. Entry is £2 per person with a limit of six to a team.
The bar will be open for all three hours (although pumpkin juice will not be an option, unfortunately) and there will also be chocolates and games to enjoy.
Fancy dress is more than encouraged – it will be applauded like a Quidditch World Cup victory.
Changing Places are toilets which can be used by people with severe disabilities, including learning disabilities, and go beyond normal disabled toilets.
Charities across Peterborough have expressed the urgent need to get the toilets installed into the city centre as without them many people are unable to visit the area and are instead either having to shop in other cities, or remain isolated at home.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us outside the Town Hall on Saturday to campaign on making Peterborough city centre accessible for all.
