Police have released an image of a woman seriously injured in a hit and run and have appealed to drivers whose vehicles were seen in the area. The 50-year-old woman from Cottenham was found in a ditch in Beach Road at just after midnight just over a month ago (12 February) after going out for a walk earlier in the evening at about 6pm.
She was taken to hospital where she remains today (13 March) in a serious but stable condition.
Officers have released a CCTV image of the woman taken at just after 6pm on High Street, Cottenham on the day of the collision.
PC Mat Waters, from the BCH Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said: “We believe the victim was involved in a collision. She is still in hospital but is making progress and is recovering.
“We have released the CCTV image of her, with her family’s consent, in the hope that it may jog someone’s memory and they get in touch.
“We have also checked nearby CCTV and identified several vehicles whose owners we would like to speak with.
“We’re keen to speak to anyone who was driving a red Ford Focus, silver Kia Rio, silver Daihatsu Terios with a missing spare wheel or a blue VW Polo along Beach Road at just after 6pm that evening.
“We are treating anyone in these vehicles as potential witnesses, and any information or dash cam footage they have – no matter how small – could be crucial to our investigation.”
“Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the collision, or the moments before or after, should tell us about it through the force website using reference 513 of 11 February,” said a police spokesperson.
“Anyone without internet access should call 101 quoting the same reference.”
