Two passers-by helped pull a driver to safety after his car crashed into a ditch just off the A1101 in Cambridgeshire. The man’s relief at being rescued was short lived, however, after police who arrived soon afterwards and discovered he was over the drink drive limit.
Brief details of the incident were given last night by Cambridgeshire police.

“We were called to Westmoor Drove in Littleport on Friday afternoon after witnesses reported this vehicle go into the water,” said a post to the Policing East Cambridgeshire Facebook page.

“Two members of the public managed to release the driver before police arrival.

“The driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been bailed to return to the police station in September.”
