Nigel Farage and Reform UK’s candidate for Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Ryan Coogan were in Cambridgeshire today [1 April] to campaign for Reform candidates on May 1st.
During his visit, the Reform UK leader highlighted that Cambridgeshire County Council:
Spent over £18 million on a new HQ for 700 staff which stayed empty for months while forking out a £100,000 annual bill to maintain the old one.
Spent over £130,000 every year on translation services since 2021.
Paid out £54,000 after admitting discrimination against a social worker who expressed her belief that sex was a matter of biology during an LGBT meeting.

Residents in Cambridgeshire have seen their council tax rise by 25% in just five years, with Cambridgeshire County Council running up almost £779 million in debt. Council interest payments on debt are over £89,000 per day.
Almost 65,000 potholes were recorded in the area in the 2023/24 financial year, equating to over 22 potholes per mile of road – one of the worst records in the UK.

Meanwhile the CEO of the council earns more than £190,000 per year – almost £23,000 more than the Prime Minister.
Reform UK are campaigning in Cambridgeshire and across the rest of the country to cut council waste in order to reinvest in local services and bring down taxes.

“Only electing Ryan and Reform councillors on May 1st will put an end to this waste and get Kent back on track.
“Cambridgeshire is broken. Reform will fix it.”
