A 45-year-old man from March has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a 23 year-old man from Peterborough was killed and a passenger seriously injured in a two car crash near Whittlesey.
Owen Bird of March, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, has been remanded into custody and also charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He will appear at Cambridge Crown Court on January 20.
The man who died has not yet been named by Cambridgeshire police.
The crash happened at about 8.30pm on Saturday December 21 on the A605 at Coates.
It involved a black Vauxhall Insignia being driven by Bird and a silver Vauxhall Corsa.
Police and paramedics attended, and the road was closed.
“The driver of the Corsa, a 23-year-old man from Peterborough, died at the scene, while a passenger was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where they remain,” said a police spokesperson.
“The driver and sole occupant of the Insignia, Owen Bird suffered minor injuries.
“He was arrested on suspicion at the scene and has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, saw any of the vehicles in the moments leading up to it, or anyone who has relevant dashcam footage to please get in touch.
