Prompt action by firefighters prevented a fire in Lincoln Road, Peterborough, spreading to three neighbouring properties. Six crews fought the blaze throughout the evening which had broken out in a garage.
By 11pm Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service were able to scale down the operation before the final crews left at 3.40am today.
Firefighters will be returning this morning for a reinspection.
“The fire was in a commercial unit and the whole building was affected by the fire,” said a spokesperson for Cambs Fire and Rescue.
“Crews have managed to prevent it from spreading to three adjacent properties.”
“A reinspection will take place this morning to ensure no hotspots remain and a fire investigation will also take place to determine the most likely cause of the fire.”
