A kitchen knife found next to the till in a Peterborough off licence has been confiscated by police.
The knife was spotted during a routine licensing check by police officers in Woodston and Fletton.
Police have not named which shop had the knife next to the till.
In a Facebook post today, police said: “We also found this large knife next to a till in one of the shops.
“The owner let us take it with us to be destroyed.”
The police spokesperson said the visits to shops and off-licences were to check that businesses were following their cigarette and alcohol licence conditions.
“We were also checking vapes to make sure they were being sold legally,” said the spokesperson.
“Disposable vapes can have a maximum of 2ml e-liquid capacity, a maximum of 20mg nicotine and must display a nicotine warning label.
“The majority of disposable vapes allow 550 to 600 puffs of 2% nicotine e-liquid.
“Vapes with more than 600 puffs are illegal in the UK as they have a capacity greater than 2ml and, most likely, a higher nicotine content than is permitted.”
