Police continue to treat as “unexplained” the death of a woman in her sixties at a mid-terrace house in Chelmer Close, St Ives, 5 days ago. Neighbours say they have been questioned about the occupant and there has been a police presence at the house since the woman’s death.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson told CambsNews today: “We were called at 12.27pm on 24 April to reports of a sudden death of a woman in her 60s at a property in Chelmer Close.
“Officers and paramedics attended the scene, and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time”.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow (April 30).
One neighbour questioned by police officers said: “I have no idea who the woman was, but police are still here today.
“When I asked one of the officers who was knocking on doors he said, ‘bit of an incident, nothing to worry about’. He asked if I knew the woman or had heard any rumours.
“It’s a bit of a mystery.”
Another resident said “There have been multiple police at the house including some staying through the night.
“I had one police officer knock on my door looking for any info but wouldn’t tell me about it. Police last night were in the white overalls.”
