Skylark Garden Centre and Café at Wimblington will close on October 23rd for the day for the funeral of Melanie Gowler, the wife of Skylark’s owner Edward Gowler.
The funeral service is at noon at St Peter’s Church, Wimblington, with a committal service to follow at 1.30pm at Fenland Crematorium in Knights End Road, March.
Mrs Gowler was a popular and hard working figure at Skylark where she was outside catering manager and known by thousands who visited the centre and weekly car boot sale.
She sadly died on September 29 in an early morning crash when her car came off a track near the Skylark farm and overturned in a water filled ditch.
Mrs Gowler, 47, was taken to hospital where she later died in the coronary care unit.
A statement on the Skylark car boot Facebook page said: “It is with great sadness that on Sunday (September 29) we lost Melanie Gowler (owner of the snack bar).
“Our thoughts are now with Edward and their four children.”
“R.I.P. Mel, you’ll be sadly missed.”
An inquest into her death has been opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed.
