A car went into a riverside drain near Pondersbridge in Cambridgeshire today despite the county council carrying out a major gritting operation overnight.
The driver escaped injury – as did the drivers of a taxi and a van which crashed on the A141 near Wimblington at the Manea turning.
Elsewhere in the county two cars and two cars were involved in a crash on the M11 in Cambridgeshire.
It happened on the M11 southbound at junction and traffic was delayed for a time as recovery took place.
Drivers continue to be advised to avoid attempting to cross the Welney Wash Road on the A1101.
Welney Flood Watch Facebook group says river levels “have risen fast overnight and are now at 2.60m, flashing signs are at 25cm/10inches depth of water, the deeper area could be up to 14 inches deep”.
It also advises that Sutton Gault further upstream is still rising “so it’s not good news for Welney”.
