Engineers are working to re-open the rail line between Ely and Peterborough after a freight train struck the rear of a delivery truck on an unmanned crossing at March, Cambridgeshire.
Although the freight train has now been moved, Network Rail is forecasting disruption until 7pm.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash.
First photos from the scene show workmen examining potential damage and undertaking preliminary investigations into the incident that happened just before 3pm today (Tuesday).
The incident happened at the Silt Road crossing near Badgeney End as an Iceland delivery driver was heading out of March.
A statement from Greater Anglia said: “Due to a freight train hitting a road vehicle at a level crossing between Peterborough and Ely all lines are blocked.
“Impact: Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice”.
