Journalists were offered a preview of the exhibition yesterday ahead of today’s officially opening.
The Unofficial Galaxies exhibition opens to the public today (July 19) and includes over 120 items including a life-size Land speeder bought from London’s Elstree Studios, a diverse collection of rare Star Wars toys and many other highly prized exhibits.
The East Midlands Garrison, a professional Cosplay group, were present yesterday, raising money for a local cancer charity.
They included more than a dozen characters in full costume to create a real spectacle.
“Let’s face it, where else would you see a Stormtrooper in a Cathedral,” said a cathedral spokesperson.
There will be several quiet sessions during our Unofficial Galaxies exhibition for those with additional needs.
During these sessions, the music will be turned off and the lighting adjusted.
Please book via the website: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/unofficialgalaxies
General admission tickets are £10 for adults, £6 for children/students and a family ticket for £30.
